The primary guidance in preparing and reporting on personal financial statements is Statement of Position 82-1, and the AICPA guide. One dramatic difference between personal financial statements and commercial financial statements is the basis of accounting used.

This text is divided into three chapters:

In Chapter 1, J. Russell Madray, CPA, CIA, CMA, and president of The Madray Group briefly reviews preparing and reporting on personal financial statement engagements. Russ discusses how engagements performed on personal financial statements differ from those of corporate entities.

Chapter 2 contains a guide to personal financial statements.

Chapter 3 contains review problems that help illustrate the topics covered in Chapters 1 and 2.
